Sauna in the Jyväskylä Region

There are about 140,000 saunas in the Jyväskylä Region, which is the Sauna Region of the World. In the Sauna Region, you can enjoy diverse sauna experiences, get to know the colourful history of the sauna, and celebrate the annual Sauna Region week. You’ll also be able to find a number of globally renowned sauna industry companies.

How does relaxing on the benches of the world’s largest smoke sauna in Tupaswilla, becoming acquainted with the history of the Finnish smoke sauna in the Jämsä Sauna Village, or enjoying a summer’s day on the lake onboard a floating sauna ferry sound? There are many great sauna options in the Sauna Region! The yearly Sauna Region Week is a most excellent way to get to know the sauna culture of the Jyväskylä Region and enjoy sauna experiences at a low threshold.

In the Jyväskylä Region with thousands of lakes, the sauna is intrinsically connected to the lake. It is quite the unique experience to enjoy bathing in a sauna on a floating sauna ferry and to jump into the refreshing water in between sauna sessions. You can jump into the lake all year round in the Sataman Viilu Sauna World.

The Jyväskylä Region is also well known for its high-quality sauna industry. Stoves manufactured by Harvia, the world’s leading sauna stove manufacturer in Muurame, heat up many saunas both in Finland and abroad. A genuine and atmospheric custom sauna can be commissioned from Sun Sauna Oy in Jyväskylä. Traditional smoke saunas are produced by Huliswood in Karstula and Sisu Sauna in Jämsä. The world’s first barrel sauna, on the other hand, was born in Jämsä, where it is still located today.
