Jämsä, known for its Himos brand, creates diverse experiences for travelers year-round. In addition to Himos activities, events, and luxury accommodations, the Jämsä area offers a glimpse into the living Finnish sauna tradition and unique local culture. Jämsä is Himos and much more: joyful celebrations, tranquility in nature, wellness, delicious local food, and unique shopping destinations. The route can be traveled by car and, during summer, also by bike, and its total length is approximately 65 km. The route is best traveled during summer, but many destinations can be visited year-round. Especially in winter, we recommend checking each destination’s opening hours separately. Below you will find a map and detailed information about the destinations.

Jämsä Sauna Village
You can start exploring the diverse tourism offerings in Jämsä from the Saunakylä located in Juokslahti. The Saunakylä has a collection of Finnish smoke saunas from the 1700s to the 1940s. It is the world’s largest collection of Finnish smoke saunas. You can especially visit the saunas during the summer, when there are also open sauna sessions organized in Saunakylä.
Opening hours: You can visit Jämsä’s Saunakylä year-round. In winter, there is no maintenance in the area, so it is at its best during the snow-free period. In summer, there is usually an open sauna session on Saturdays in Saunakylä. Check the times here.

Himos
The Himos tourist area is a paradise for active travelers. HimosHolidays offers something for everyone year-round, from outdoor safaris to bowling. At Himos Golf, enthusiasts will find versatile courses, and in winter, the award-winning slopes of Himos Ski Center meet the desires of even the most daring skiers. The youngest family members are also considered, and suitable winter activities are offered by the Lumila slopes near the ski slopes.

Maauimala activity park
After lunch, especially those traveling with children should head to the Maauimala Avtivity Park. The Maauimala Activity Park offers plenty of activities in the summer. Enjoy a day lounging on the sandy beach, at the outdoor gym, or on the playground with the kids. The park also features Finland’s largest outdoor Bukk Off Ice training track, a skate park, and a pump track. At the Maauimala equipment rental, you can borrow BMX bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
