  • Toivakka Church and heritage trail

First, it’s worth heading to the center to examine the Toivakka Church (in Finnish), which is famous for its unique ceiling paintings by Pellervo Lukumies. The paintings can be viewed during the summer during the road church’s opening hours and in winter by appointment. The Toivakka Church, designed by architect Ludvig Isak Lindqvist, is impressive both for its interior adorned with paintings and its facade. From the church’s parking lot, you can access the approximately 6 km long Toivakka heritage trail (in Finnish), marked with Perinnepolku signs and Vakkaukko markers.

Opening hours: You can visit Toivakka Church in the summer. Check opening hours here (in Finnish).
