Accessible restaurants and cafes

In the Jyväskylä Region and its central city Jyväskylä, there is a diverse range of restaurants and cafes, some of which are also accessible to assistive equipment users.

Jyväskylä

Restaurant Elo in Jyväskylä offers café, lunch, and À La Carte services from morning till evening. There is also a take away shop in the premises where you can buy Elo Kitchen and Cafe Elonen treats to take home or as a souvenir! Elo has an accessible entrance from Kauppakatu street, coming from the sliding doors. The premises are accessible, and a spacious accessible toilet for customers can be found close to the restaurant.

Konttiravintola Morton, which is open from May through September, is a comfortable and award-winning summer terrace in the Jyväskylä Harbour. The restaurant has an accessible entrance, and an accessible toilet. Morton is famous for its delicious burgers and breakfast menus.

Café & Restaurant Vesilinna, located on the 2nd floor of the Harju Tower, has accessible access by means of a large lift, and an accessible toilet is available in the restaurant. There is a low threshold at the ground floor entrance. The lookout terrace of the restaurant has great views over the city.

Restaurant Sataman Viilu, situated in Finland’s most atmospheric harbour in Lutakko, is fully accessible. The main entrance to the restaurant is fully accessible, there are no thresholds indoors, and there is an accessible toilet in the restaurant.

Verso Bar & Kitchen offers accessible restaurant services right in the heart of Jyväskylä, along a pedestrian street. The restaurant also has an accessible terrace in the summer. Read more about Verso’s accessibility on the Palmuasema blog.

The views of Lake Jyväsjärvi can be enjoyed accessibly at the Finlandia Hotel Alba restaurant. The main entrance of the hotel features a small ramp and sliding doors. The hotel’s public premises and restaurant are accessible, and there is an accessible toilet in the premises with assist rails. The restaurant has a magnificent patio in the summer, which can be accessed via a ramp.

The rest of the Jyväskylä Region

The restaurant and meeting rooms of the Holiday Centre Revontuli, open year-round, are also accessible with the help of staff.

The Laukaa Spa Hotel Peurunka restaurants are accessible. In general, the public spaces of Hotel Peurunka are all accessible. It is easy to navigate the halls with a wheelchair, pram or other assistive device, and there’s plenty of space in the toilets for assistive devices. There are no thresholds, and for instance the corridors are large and the lifts spacious. In the restaurants, there is space to move around in a wheelchair.
